A Jos-based legal practitioner, Mr. Solomon Dalong has described the spate of Boko Haram atrocities in the North-east as “a conspiracy theory” allegedly orchestrated by the federal government to destroy the entire North.
Speaking in an interview with Freedom Radio in Kano, Dalong said the Boko Haram’s war of attrition could have brought the campaign of genocide under control if the federal government means business alleging further that some powerful forces were behind the massive killings.
He said the federal government was also perfecting a ploy to cause chaos and anarchy in the country ahead of the 2015 general elections, using the North-east as a launch-pad, adding that it was the only way the election could be scuttled to pave the way for the gluttonous political class to perpetuate themselves in power.
He, however, stated that the Boko Haram elements could be dislodged using a single military battalion for the campaign adding that soldiers deployed to fight the insurgents have every reason to desert the battle field in the absence of sufficient arsenals of war.
He said: “What is happening is just a conspiracy theory perfected by the federal government to launch an asymmetric warfare against the entire North. People were underestimating the gravity of this calamity. The North is at a crossroads, there is no doubt about it.”
He further dismissed the impression that the Boko Haram warfare was being carried out with the aim of turning Nigeria into an Islamic state, stressing that most of those killed in the spate of attacks, were predominantly Muslims.
“If the Boko Haram campaign of terror was meant to Islamise Nigeria, one should not be killed after reciting the Kalimatut Shahada. But it is not so. Majority of those being targeted were Muslims. How could one waging a course in the name of Islam resort to kill his fellow Muslim?”
