Kano
A higher Sharia court, sitting in Kano, has in a secret trial sentenced one Abdulaziz Dauda, popularly known as Inyass to death by hanging following a blasphemy charge labeled against him in a suit against his alleged despicable action.
Inyass was arrested on 18th, August, 2015 in Abuja and brought to Kano to face trial on a two count charge of blasphemy and inciting crisis, which led to the burning of Sharia Court and some vehicles.
Inyass was reported to had committed the offence at a Maulud festivity held on 31st of June 2015, where he allegedly spat a destructive venom on the personality of the Holy Prophet of Islam, which had generated furore in Islamic circles.
Counsel to the state government, Barrister Lamido Abba Soron Dinki on his part stated that five witnesses including the Police had testified before the court, while counsel to the defendant who craved anonymity did not shed light on the saga.
Blueprint learnt on good authority that nine persons had since been sentenced to death by the same court, but delayed further judgement against Inyass, who was nowhere to be found at the time of the initial trial.
They all have the right to appeal against the death sentence.
