National Coordinator of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Barrister Haruna Garus Gololo, has raised the alarm over alleged plan by Benue state government to eliminate the leadership of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore.
Speaking with our correspondence in Abuja over the weekend, Gololo explained that by inviting MAKH leadership to face court case in Makurdi their lives were in danger. “MAKH knows nothing about the killings in Benue state; what they know is the anti grazing law which they are challenging in the Federal High Court, Abuja because Fulani have not been given a place to graze before the commencement of the law.
“Benue state government should have made available pilot ranches for the Fulani to go there, going to court is not the way forward. What we need now is peace, Benue is not safe for the leaders to come now because their lives are in danger,” Gololo stressed.
The coordinator also called on the Attorney General of the Federation to intervene and order the judge to sit in a place other than Makurdi. Gololo said, “this is the right time to call for dialogue in the state because everybody needs peace.
Those that are displaced, including me, the time has come for us to go back to our various homes as the raining season has come. “Miyetti Allah is ready to join hands with Benue state government to dialogue for peace to return to the state. We the Fulani are peace loving people, it is those who hate them that are causing crisis and they would tag us to be behind it all.”
