The Benue state Ministry of Women Affairs Tuesday said it has approved N4 million for inclusion in the 2025 budget for nutrition activities.

This was disclosed by Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics, Fele William, at the Ministry of Women Affairs, during a budget tracking visit on nutrition.

William noted that initially, there was no budget for nutrition in 2023, but due to advocacy efforts, ₦4 million was included in the budget in the 2024 fiscal year.

However, he lamented that the N4 million allocated for 2024 was not released to the ministry.

The same amount has been approved for 2025, but William emphasised that it is grossly inadequate.

He  stated that the primary goal was to ensure that nutrition gets budgeted and future allocations will be increased based on performance and utilisation.

Mrs. Shimenenge Kyagba, who led the advocacy visit to the ministry stated that they were tracking the budget for nutrition to ensure its inclusion and utilisation in line with the objective of the ministries.
