Bendel Insurance goalkeeper in, Okoye out of 2026 World Cup qualifiers

Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has pulled out of 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The Super Eagles announced the withdrawal of the goalkeeper, but did not give a reason for this.

Okoye has been in and out of the Eagles for various reasons.

He has been replaced by Bendel Insurance goalkeeper Amas Obasogie.

The other goalkeepers called up for the World Cup qualifiers are Francis Uzoho from Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus and Olorunleke Ojo of Enyimba.

Uzoho, who was the country’s No 1 at the 2018 World Cup, has come under serious scrutiny after a poor display in friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique last month.
