The Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has called for the unity of people of the state.
He urged Kogi citizens not to allow tribal sentiment to divide the people.
The governor made the call while speaking at the funeral ceremony of late Chief Ali, the father of former Kogi East Senator, Attai Aidoko Ali, Sunday.
He stated the importance of emulating Okwoli’s exemplary life, which was marked by good traits.
He charged citizens to unite against divisive forces that can cause disunity in the state.
The governor described the late Chief Okwoli as a man who led a fulfilled life across all aspects and urged people to adopt the commendable qualities that has qualified him to be celebrated both in life and death.
He urged people to overcome differences that hinder progress and instead embrace unity, which could lead to greater achievements for the state and its residents.
Also speaking, Kogi state director general, Special Task Force on Illegal Smuggling of Firearms and Other Related Offences, Elder Friday Sani Makama, commended Governor Bello for putting Kogi state first against all forms of ethnic, political, or religious coloration.
Makama who is also APC chieftain said he was not surprised that thousands of people trooped out across the three senatorial districts to welcome Governor Bello, whom they described as their illustrious son.
