A socio-cultural group in Ibibio nation (Ukai Order Custodian), has appealed to Governor Udom Emmanuel who was reelected for a second term to be magnanimous in discharging his renewed mandate.
The group advised the governor not to exclude citizens of the state who have no political affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from participating fully in the governance of the state.
Ukai Ibibio which is a Wing of Akwa Imaisong Ibibio, led by the vice chairman of Uyo local government Hon Ukai Udeme Emmanuel on Monday in Uyo also called on the state governor to throw the gate of his administration open for all candidates who contested against him in the just concluded election.
He said : “We are here to plead with everyone that the election have come and gone, everybody should sheath their sword for the sake of peace and development of our dear state.
“Now that the election is over, we call on the winner Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to please lead the state as the governor of Akwa Ibom state, and not as the governor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)for the sake of peace and harmony .
“We hereby plead with him and every other winner to incorporate all candidates who contested the election with them to tap from their ideas and blueprints for the betterment of the state”
The group later paid a courtesy visit to Obong Dr. Essien Ekidem, the Ntisong 111 at his palace, and the Speaker (Akwa -Iko) of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio Otuekong Mkpisong Dr. Cyril Ekiko to thank them for their royal contributions in the hitch free elections witnessed in the state.
