Bayelsa Queens booked their spot in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League final with a resilient 2-1 comeback win over Burkina Faso’s USFA in Yamoussoukro on Tuesday.
The Nigerian champions fell behind inside the opening two minutes, conceding to Comfort Yeboah after failing to clear their lines. Former Edo Queens forward Emem Essien restored parity in the 15th minute with a composed finish following sustained pressure.
Midfielder Janet Akekoromowei then secured the victory with a stunning long-range strike in the 63rd minute, earning her the Player of the Match award and putting her goal in contention for the tournament’s best strike.
Despite a late USFA push, Bayelsa Queens held firm to advance to the final, where they will face Ivorian champions ASEC Mimosas, who defeated Ghana’s Police Ladies 4-1 in the other semi-final.
A win in the final will secure Bayelsa Queens’ place in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.
