A group, Concerned Citizens of Bayelsa state, has warned the All Progressives Congress ( APC) to be watchful of the role being played by the Director-General of the Chief Timipre Sylva Governorship Campaign Organisation.
A press statement signed by the President and Secretary of the group, Preye Dombrayeifa and Francis Barifagha, yesterday in Abuja, said the party should intervene and rescue Sylva from political betrayal “which is likely to come from Lokpobiri.”
It said: “It is with all sense of patriotism and genuine loyalty to our Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) that we solemnly appeal that our gubernatorial candidate- His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva be rescued from a man whose political antecedents is rich in political betrayal, backstabbing and insincerity.
“The emergence of Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri as the Director- General of the Chief Timipre Sylva Gubernatorial Campaign is an open invitation for voter apathy, easy bashing from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and outright indifference to the electoral fortunes of the Party and Sylva by Bayelsans across all spectrums. Sen. Lokpobiri’s political behaviour is a study in political treachery.
“After emerging as a Senator courtesy of the political benevolence of Mr. Ndutimi Alaibe, Sen. Lokpobiri went ahead to betray him. As Speaker of Bayelsa state legislative arm of government, same Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri did everything politically possible to prevail on the Late Chief. DSP Alamieyeseigha to sack our governorship flag-bearer as his SA Political.
“Currently, in furtherance of his traits as a 21st Century Symbol
of political betrayal, Heineken Lokpobiri is in talks with the PDP on how to ruin the chances of our Party come December 5.”
