The Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Wednesday conducted a policy dialogue with stakeholders from the 20 local governments to enhance revenue generation in the state.
Speaking at the meeting held at Command Guest, Bauchi, the Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Yakubu Adamu, said the meeting focuses on strengthening government policies on revenue collection in the 20 local government areas of the state.
Adamu said the state and local governments will harmonise the process of collection and put efficiency for more revenue to be generated at the local government levels.
On his part, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Isah Babayo Tilde, described the dialogue as timely and important, assuring that the state government will do everything possible to improve revenue generation to the state for efficient service delivery.
Earlier, the executive chairman, Board of Internal Revenue Service, Mu’azu Usman, said the meeting is to enable state government and local government councils to deliberate and come up with strategies on how to improve the revenue generation, particularly at the local government levels.
