The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has officially renamed the popular Charly Boy Bus Stop to Baddo Bus Stop, in recognition of indigenous rap star Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Baddo.

The move, announced by outgoing council chairman Hon. Kolade Alabi David, forms part of a broader street renaming initiative aimed at celebrating individuals who have brought honour and recognition to the community both locally and globally.

“As an administration, we took our time to reflect on a number of our people who have put the name of our local council out on the global map through their respective God-given talents and craft,” Alabi said. “Today, we are officially renaming streets in honour of those legacies.”

Olamide, a Bariga native, is widely credited with promoting the Yoruba language in mainstream music and has been a dominant figure in Nigeria’s music industry for over a decade.

Other notable name changes announced include:

Ilaje Road → King Sunny Ade Road

Bariga Road → Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way

Community Road, Akoka → Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road

Ajidagan Street → Olamide Adedeji (Baddo) Street

Ifeanyi Street → Abolore Akande (9ice) Street

Ayodele Street, Ladi-Lak → Tony Tetuila Street

Ilojo Crescent, Obanikoro → Bukayo Saka Street

The renaming, which took place shortly before the end of Alabi’s tenure on Friday, is the latest in a wave of symbolic honours by Lagos councils. Just weeks earlier, the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area renamed 24 streets to reflect the contributions of prominent Nigerians.
