The November 26, Guest Writer Session of the Abuja Writers Forum (AWF) will feature Juliana Halima Ebikwo, Deji Ige and Ucha Chinonso Obiahu, at Nanet Suites, Abuja.
According to a statement by the Forum’s PRO, Edith Yassin, the reading will draw the curtains on what has been a successful year of literary activities for the Abuja Writers Forum (AWF).
Juliana Halima Ebikwo hails from Anyigba, Kogi State and is a professional teacher and guidance counselor. Her debut novel, “My Diary” is a 253-page fictional dairy entry by the character, Omolara.
The narrative focuses on the sudden change inOmalara’s life when she is stricken by HIV/AIDS, and how she tries to come to terms with death knocking on her door.
Currently a directorate officer in the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs Ebikwo schooled at Federal Government Girls College, Bauchi, Ahmadu Bello Universit,Zaria and University of Abuja.
Ebikwo is married and blessed with four children, and her hobbies are travelling, cooking, walking, interacting, reading and writing.
Deji Ige, performance poet and writer, prides himself as a Nigerian rather than a native of a State but has his ancestral home in Ekiti state. Over the years, he has carved a niche for himself in the turf of performance poetry, with a unique ability and style of crafting captivating poetry pieces in quintessential English with a fusion of sublime Yoruba. He has delivered awe inspiring performances on several stages across the country and for television and radio audiences.
His academic background includes Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy, Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism, a Master’s Degree in Media Arts. Ige is working on a Doctorate, and considers education a core tool for building intellectual magnitude.
A lover of Nigerian Cultural Heritage and an advocate of African Identity, Ige has so much pride in his affiliation to the continent of Africa, having his root in Nigeria where he calls “Home” and his source in Ijan Ekiti where he calls “Orisun”-The Source.
Apart from poetry and writing, Ige is a media consultant with core competence in media production. He is a member of the Abuja Literary Society.
Ucha Obiahu Favour Chinonso, popularly known as Ucha Df is a professional singer, songwriter, pianist, guitarist, poet and actress . She hails from Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State .
Born the sixth of eight children, Ucha Df started her musical career at the age of 14 in Lagos. She studied music at Peter Kings College of Music, May Music School and Musical Society (MUSON)Lagos.
Her official single “We Are One” was released on the 6th of September,2016. Ucha Df has performed at various international and local events, and is inspired by a wide range of artistes including Alicia Keys, Asa,Tony Braxton, Ella Fitzgerald, Steve Wonder,Micheal Jackson, 2Face Idibia, Fela Kuti,Angelique Kidjo,and Tina Turner.
She is currently a Band Director and Music Teacher at Nigerian Turkish International College, Abuja.
The Guest Writer Session which also features a raffle-draw for books, runs from 4-7pm at the Aso Hall, Nanet Suites, Central Business District and is open to the public.
