The All Workers Convergence (AWC), weekend, tasked the federal government to address the unprecedented hardship Nigerians are currently facing.
In a communiqué issued at the end of its emergency online meeting signed by its national coordinator, Comrade Andrew Emelieze, AWC noted that hunger has been biting harder on Nigerians since the removal of fuel subsidy by the government
AWC stated that the reactions of the Tinubu- led administration to the recent protest in Nigeria tagged, #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria, #EndHardship and #EndHunger, has shown clearly that government is not yet ready to accept her lapses and make corrections.
“Hunger has been biting harder on Nigerians since the forceful removal of fuel subsidy. Government has not been able to address the unprecedented hardship Nigerians are facing since the announcement that subsidy is gone by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. All we have been seeing and hearing has been failed promises.
“Rather than adjust and improve the living conditions of Nigerians, government is focusing on finding who to blame for the legitimate protest. The energy invested by government to divert attention of the mass populace to the allusions of the protest being sponsored by foreigners is enough to meet up with the demands of the protesters, an indication of a government that is not yet ready to get to work.
“The prevailing situation that led to the protest is still very prominent and unattended to. It is as if the protest has no impact. Government has remained adamant and rather prefers to pursue frivolities and chasing shadows around instead of tackling the problems created by the removal of subsidy on petrol.”
