The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the majority leader of the house representatives Alhassan Ado Daguwa winner of the Tudun-Wada/Doguwa federal constituency.

The INEC returning officer, Professor Sani Ibrahim, from the Department of Biological Sciences Bayero University, Kano declared Alhassan Ado, the candidate of the All Progressives congress (APC) as winner.

He polled 41,573 to defeat his closest rival, the candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) Yusha’u Salisu who polled 34,533.

The stunning victory of the House Majority Leader came against the backdrop of the allegation of culpable homicide levelled against his person in the wake of the recent presidential and National Assemblies elections.

Our correspondent who monitored the conduct of the supplementary election held in Kano reported that it was a grueling battle royale between the APC and the NNPP.

However, with the overall results of the election still being collated at respective collation centres, about 16 assembly seats are up for grabs by the contending parties.
