Chelsea have reached agreement on an improved package that will see striker Nicolas Jackson join Bayern Munich after weeks of uncertainty.
The 24-year-old is set to move on an initial loan worth £14.3m (€16.5m), with the deal containing a mandatory obligation to buy for £56.2m (€65m) once he makes a minimum number of appearances. Personal terms for a five-year permanent contract have already been agreed.
The switch comes after Chelsea briefly recalled Jackson when Liam Delap was injured in Saturday’s Premier League victory over Fulham, casting doubt on the transfer.
Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal for £32m in 2023, scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for the Blues. His Chelsea career was marked by disciplinary issues, including a second red card of the season at St James’ Park in April, which left the club short of strikers during their Champions League push. He was also sent off just four minutes after coming on in Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Flamengo at the Club World Cup, though the Blues went on to lift the trophy.
In his absence, Chelsea bolstered their frontline by bringing in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro during the Club World Cup, and have now added 20-year-old Argentine Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton on a season-long loan for £2m.
Jackson’s move to Bayern marks the end of a stop-start chapter at Stamford Bridge and gives the German champions a new attacking option for the season ahead.
