Army to re-engineer 82 Division for efficiency

82 Division of the Nigerian Army would undergo restructuring for efficient services to the people.
The General Officer Commanding, GOC 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu Maj. Gen. Segun Yusuf, stated this in Umuahia when he visited Governor Theodore Orji.

He noted that the security arrangement existing in the area would be re-engineered to ensure dynamism, assuring of his readiness to provide Abia state with the needed security.
Yusuf, who said that having taken over command a fortnight ago, he decided to get himself familiar with areas under his Command, thanked the Abia state governor for his support to the military.

Speaking, Governor Orji extolled the Nigerian military for confining itself to the protection of the territorial integrity of the nation and not interfering in politics.
He lauded the military for enhancing the country’s nascent democracy, pointing out that the duty of the military was to protect the nation from external aggression.

The governor stated that security was very essential for any meaningful development to take place in a nation and applauded the Nigerian Army for being alive to its responsibility.
Security, he said, was still a nagging problem in all areas under the command, and urged him to be diligent in fighting the cankerworm and called on the military not to be deterred by the opposition, but to do its best in checking crime in the country.

He re-affirmed the state government’s good relationship with the army, and assured the GOC that the state would sustain the relationship.
According to him, the government remains eternally grateful to the military for the role it played in stemming the menace of kidnapping in the state.
