The 81 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Tuesday, moved against the criminal activities under its Area of Responsibility (AOR) in order to maintain peace and tranquility in Lagos and Ogun states.
The NA also nabbed about 11 suspects involved in several criminal activities in both states.
The acting deputy director, Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, in a statement Monday stated that the troops who acted on actionable intelligence has successfully conducted series of operations across all fronts within the week targeting criminal activities in both states.
“These operations have led to multiple arrests of suspects linked to kidnapping, theft, and vandalism.
“Notable among the arrests was that of a suspected kidnapper, identified as Usman Abubakar, a 27-year-old from Badudo local government area of Kebbi state. He was apprehended while traveling from Benin, Edo state, to Epe, Lagos state and he has been transferred to Benin for further investigation.
“The troops also apprehended 32-year-old Uche Kehinde Akwari at Elegushi Beach in Lagos while stealing building materials.”
Ayeni further stated that in a related incident, a group of nine suspects, all hailing from Mashi local government area of Katsina state, were also arrested at Bonny Cantonment Mammy Market for vandalising and stealing bold spikes attached to floating buoys belonging to the NNPC Atlas Curve Company.
He said: “The suspects include Sabiu Hashimu, 20; Fahadu Maaru 22; Muhammed Salaudeen, 18; Samaila Abubakar, 20; Abdul Ahmadu, 19; Nasiru Shuiabu,19; Tanko Sani; 20 Safiyanu Madi,18 and Ibrahim Abdullahi 21.
“The suspects have been handed over to appropriate security agencies for further investigation.”
