One of the allies to former interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola, that worked for Governor Ademola Adeleke in the 2022 governorship election in Osun state, Rasaq Salinsile, has rejected his appointment as Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) board chairman.

Salinsile, who was chairman of the defunct faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Aregbesola, was announced as chairman of TESCOM board in the list of appointments rolled out by Governor Adeleke.

Surprisingly, a day to the inauguration, Adeleke announced Tope Adeyemi as the new chairman of TESCOM, thus raising concerns over the likely end to the friendship of Aregbesola and the government of Adeleke.

While some people said Salinsile aimed higher than the position he got from Adeleke’s government, hence the rejection of his appointment, others said his name was deliberately removed because of the internal crisis that ensued.

It was also said in some quarters that Aregbesola directed Salinsile to reject the offer following the headlines that greeted his appointment and linkage of his name to the reason for the inclusion of his ally’s name.

When contacted, Salinsile confirmed the replacement of his name, saying the decision was personal.

He said, “I declined the appointment based on personal reasons.”
