APC to blacklist do-or-die politicians – Oyo chair

All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Oyo state, Chief Akin Oke, has said that the party was ready to blacklist or sanction do-or-die politicians aspiring for elective posts in the 2015 general elections on its platform.
He disclosed this in a statement on the outcome of the state’s executive meeting held at the APC South West Zonal office, Old Ife Road, Ibadan.
Oke stressed that APC as a party was not ready to tolerate violence and act of indiscipline, saying that politician, especially APC members, “with do-or-die spirit are to be treated as common criminals who shall be made to face the full wrath of the law if caught.”
He said: “There is the need to warn any politician who might want to employ violence and hooliganism in the bid to occupy any political office in future to desist from such ignoble act or risk being blacklisted or sanctioned accordingly. Any political player, including APC members, with do-or-die spirit is to be treated as common criminals who shall be made to face the full wrath of the law if caught.”
He stressed that the party was set to provide a level playing ground for its members aspiring into any of the elective post in the
2015 general elections, adding that such bonafide member should not hesitate “to make public their interest immediately as this was expected to start with a formal notification of the state secretariat of the party.”
He added that “APC is the party where constitutionality, discipline and orderliness can never be compromised,” stressing that “therefore, we appeal to all party loyalists especially prospective aspirants and their supporters to play the game according to the rule.”
Chief Oke disclosed that in Oyo state,the APC secretariat in Ibadan “is open to any bonafide members to register his/her interest in contesting any political office as far as 2015 general elections are concerned, saying “as it stands today, we are ready to assist the cause of all aspirants who are ready to abide by the rules and regulations of the APC as well as those of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
“We encourage interested members to feel free to declare and pursue their interest in any of the posts available which include; president, governor, senator in each of the three senatorial districts, House of Representatives member in each of the 14 federal constituencies and House of Assembly member in each of the 32 state constituencies as we guarantee them justice and fairness in the conduct of primaries that would eventually produce candidates for all the listed posts.”
