Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Monday visited former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna, saying the party is growing stronger and more united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governors, under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), were led by the forum’s chairman and governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma.
Speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with Buhari, Uzodimma said the visit was to show appreciation to the former president for his leadership and to celebrate with him after the Ramadan and Lent seasons.
He said the APC had remained stable due to the strong foundation laid during Buhari’s administration, which, according to him, has continued to foster internal cohesion and effective governance across APC-controlled states.
“Our visit is part of our tradition as progressives. We have come to pay homage to our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, who served this country diligently for eight years under the platform of the APC.
“We are happy to see him in good health. His legacy continues to inspire the party and our leadership style. The APC remains the largest and most organised political party in Nigeria.”
The Imo governor said unity within the party was critical for future electoral victories, adding that the APC had built a structure that prioritises national interest over personal ambition.
Also speaking, Kaduna state governor, Uba Sani, described Buhari as a father- figure to both party members and ordinary citizens.
He said the former president’s home in Kaduna had become a hub for visits by politicians and the general public, reflecting the respect and admiration he commands across board.
