Anambra:  Joint security arrest 10 kidnap suspects, rescue 4 victims, recover arms, others

The Anambra State Police Command, on Friday, said the joint security team had arrested 10 kidnap suspects, rescued 4 victims and recovered arms and ammunition within two weeks.

The Police Commissioner, Dr Ikioye Orutugu, who disclosed this at a press briefing in the Command’s headquarters, revealed that the recovered arms were 10 arms of assorted brands, 46 expended cartridges live ammunition, 4 vehicles and other incriminating items. 

“The Command has in the two weeks under review recorded significant breakthroughs. Given the Operational support from sister agencies, Anambra State Vigilantes and Other Security Operatives through sustained patrols and targeted security operations. Meanwhile, please note that three of the recovered cars have been released to the owners,” he stated.

According to him, all the suspects involved would be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.

“To this end, the Anambra State Police Command want to use this opportunity to wish our Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world especially in the State, Happy Sallah Celebration.

“The Police as the lead agency in internal security, will continue to work in synergy with the military, other security agencies and local vigilante groups to enhance operational capacity, security dominance and tactical efficiency in ensuring the safety and security of all residents,” said Orutugu.
