A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra state, Wednesday, dismissed a case brought against the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, over his nomination for the 2025 November 8 poll.
Mr Valentine Ozigbo, one of the aspirants for Anambra APC gubernatorial primary, had in the suit joined APC and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), arguing that Ukachukwu should be disqualified for allegedly not being legitimately qualified to contest the party’s primary held on Friday, April 5, 2025.
Delivering judgment, Justice Evelyn Anyadike, argued that the case lacked merit as the Supreme Court had in previous decided cases stated that the decision of membership of political parties was a prerogative of the particular party.
Responding to the judgment, the plaintiff, Mr Valentine Ozigbo described it as a sad moment, assuring that he would consult with his lawyers on the next steps.
