Islamic preachers, Imams, organisations, Sufees and centres in Sokoto under the umbrella of Muslims Solidarity Forum have appealed to politicians in the state to refrain from inflammatory statements that will further plunge the seat of the Caliphate into violence.
Addressing a conference in Sokoto, Professor Isah Maishanu of the Islamic Studies Department of the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, who led members to the press centre, urged politicians to fear God and reminded them that power comes from God and He gives it to whomever He so desires.
He said the decision to call the press conference with a view to calling politicians to order became necessary, following the tensed political atmosphere and rivalry among senior political class in the state.
The clerics said it is disturbing that it’s only in Sokoto state that all the results of NASS elections were declared inconclusive.
“We strongly call on all the candidates, the political leaders in the state to fear Allah and remember that power belongs to Allah the
Almighty alone.
“He gives it to whoever He so wishes when He so wills in order to test him whether he will be just and preserve the trust given to him or not.
They said politicians should know that no amount of violence will make a person get what God has not destined for him.
