Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue state has urged citizens to unite in the fight against insecurity, emphasising that lasting peace requires a collective commitment to heal wounds.
He made the call Sunday during the prayer pilgrimage for peace held at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Baptist, Gboko.

The death toll of the Christmas attack hits 19 on Sunday.
Governor Alia stated that the quest for peace demands a deliberate and direct approach, adding that God has given peace, and people must also give peace.


He acknowledged the efforts of individuals and groups working towards peace, particularly the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Katsina-ala, Most Rev’d Isaac Dugu, for his role in restoring peace in Sankera.


The Tor Tiv, HRM Orchivirigh, Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, echoed the governor’s sentiments, emphasising the importance of unity in fighting insecurity.
