Al-Makura commiserates with Masaka market fire victims

Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has commiserated with victims of the fi re that destroyed the popular Masaka Market in Karu local government area of the state. A statement issued his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ahmed Tukur, quoted the governor as saying that the fi re disaster was regrettable going by the monumental losses recorded at these austere times. According to the statement, Al-Makura is highly disturbed by the incident that led to the loss of property worth millions of Naira.

“Th e incidence is a huge set back to the state and the country considering the economic recession the country is going through at this point in time,” the statement read in part. He urged the management of market to always employ techniques to aver fi re disasters by ensuring “adequate preventive measures against fi re disasters in our markets” and to also educate traders and other users on preventing and combating fi re disasters to ensure that traders were not subjected to harrowing loss.
