President of the National Youth Council of Nigerian (NYCN) and Board Member, North Central Development Commission (NCNC), Amb. Solomon Adodo, has debunked calls for the resignation of Godswill Akpabio as the President of the Senate, describing those behind the calls as political opponents of the Tinubu administration.
Adodo made this known while appearing as a guest on Democracy Radio, Tuesday, to discuss national issues and chart a way forward to Nigeria’s political challenges.
According to him, “the harmonious relationship existing between the Executive and Legislature, especially the Senate is perceived by crisis entrepreneurs as a rubber stamp only because they are not seeing acrimony, strife and a power tussle between the respective arms of government,” noting, however, that for a nation to make progress there must be synergy among its organs.
“As a seasoned administrator, Senator Akpabio has championed good governance in all his national assignments. As Governor of Akwa Ibom State, he was known for the uncommon transformation of the state both in infrastructure and human capital development.
“It was under his tenure as Minister that the first forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NCDC) was done, forcing contractors to return to site and huge sums of monies recovered. Akpabio’s leadership is indeed a model for good governance and even his critics cannot deny that.
“Unfortunately, from the word go, there has been opposition from those who felt uncomfortable with his smooth rapport with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Every word he spoke was twisted, every good intention deliberately manipulated by political detractors in order to be misunderstood by the citizenry. The propaganda machine devilishly set in at a frenetic pace. To think that Senator Akpabio was accused of benefiting from the electoral fraud of Professor Peter Ogban when he was actually a victim of Ogban’s criminality, is unsettling,” he added.
Amb. Solomon Adodo equally noted that as a crescendo of the propaganda against Sen. Akpabio, Sen. Natasha set out on a mission to tarnish the reputation of the Senate President and indeed the Tinubu government. He dismissed the allegations of sexual harassment by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as an obsession and a desperate attempt to smear one of Nigeria’s best leaders.
“It is on record that Senator Natasha has been known to make such unfounded allegations in the past which he described as blackmail. That she has been doing it and getting away with it emboldened her to take a jab at the Senate President but she has failed.
“From her cooked tale of sexual harassment to the allegation of organ harvesting, it has become clear that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is not speaking the truth and the world can now see that she is desperately trying to whip public sentiments in her favour by exploiting very sensational themes.
“It is on record that Reno Omokri accused her of blackmailing him and she has not even denied it till now. With this, the public can not really take her seriously.
“The Nigerian Senate is working harmoniously with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Executive to achieve the renewed hope agenda. Nigerians should be happy and cooperate with this great team rather than joining forces with opposition elements to destabilize the administration,” he concluded.
