The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Tuesday described the death of Second Republic Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Richard Osuolale Abimbola Akinjide ( SAN) as a monumental loss to Nigeria.
Oba Adetunji in a condolence message declared that late Chief Akinjide was an accomplished lawyer and politician that gave a very good account of himself as First Republic Minister of Education and Second Republic Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation with his robust exchange of ideas.
The Olubadan stressed in the message signed by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Alhaji Adeola Oloko that the late Chief Akinjide who also served as a chieftain in the Olubadan of Ibadan’s court of clan nobles was a patriot who displayed great love for his fatherland and her people.
While praying God to give his family and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, the Olubadan stated that the vacuum left by Akinjide’s exit would be hard to fill.
In his message, the immediate past governor of Oyo state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi said he received the death of late Chief Richard Akinjide with sadness and as a rude shock.
“I received with great sadness the transition of a legal luminary and an illustrious son of Ibadanland, Chief Richard Osuolale Akinjide. Though he died at an advanced age of 88 years, his death still came as a rude shock to me and many other Nigerians who heard about it.”
