Ahmed approves N3.2bn for ongoing projects

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state has approved N3.2 billion for the completion of outstanding capital projects in the education, energy, health, roads, works and justice sectors in the state.
A statement issued by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, quoted the governor as saying that the funds were released after the recent verification of the state’s outstanding capital projects, and was based on authenticated and duly certified stage of completion of works on each project.
Ahmed noted that the release of funds would ensure that timely completion of work on the various sites without delay.

He said the N3.2 billion was part of the N10 billion loan facility recently approved by the House of Assembly for existing and new infrastructure projects in the state.
The governor expressed confidence that with the release of the fund, all stalled projects in the state would be revived and that other funds would be released to other contractors in the state as they become available.

He thanked the contractors for their patience with the government and promised that with the new revenue drive, the issue of stalled projects would be a thing of the past.
A breakdown of the N3.2 billion, according to the Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu, showed that the largest allocation of over N2 billion went to the road sector.
The next major allocation went to water projects with over N600 million, while education received over N320 million.
Others included energy with an allocation of N38 million, health with about N160 million and the justice sector with N18 million.
