Some aggrieved supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zaria local government area of Kaduna state yesterday burnt the campaign posters of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero and President Goodluck Jonathan.
The supporters, mostly youths, gathered at Mora Road, Tudun Wada, Zaria, near Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo’s family house, in large number brought down the posters and set them ablaze.
Investigation revealed that the supporters felt aggrieved when they were used and dumped by the officials of the party during the visit of the vice president on Tuesday.
The youths accused the PDP officials of deceiving them after serving them the purpose for which they were engaged.
“We are not going to accept, they must settle us. Why should they employ us and then refuse to settle us?” the youth chanted in Hausa.
In a related development, PDP thugs manhandled the Special Adviser (Political) to the state governor and the Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Zaria local government council, Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim Sakadadi, and Alhaji Yusuf Bature (aka Mai-Zarman), respectively.
The fracas occurred when the youth discovered that the adviser was not ready to pay them shortly after a meeting between the vice president with religious, youth and community leaders at the Government Lodge in Sabon Gari local government area of the state.
Reports had it that but for the intervention of the police, the situation would have taken a different dimension.
All effort at the time of filing this report to reach the special adviser for comment was not possible as his cell phone was not going through.
