Super Eagles’ players have received special commendation from the English Premier League where several of them are plying their trade.
The accolades came on the heel of Super Eagles reaching the final of the African Cup of Nations, AFCON, after beating South Africa in the semi-final clash on Wednesday.
Jose Peseiro’s side took the lead in the 65th minute when William Troost-Ekong converted the penalty gained by Victor Osimhen.
Mokoena equalised for Bafana Bafana via a spot kick in the 90th minute.
Nigeria, eventually, beat South Africa 4-2 in penalties at Stade Bouake in Ivory Coast to book their place in the final against the host country.
Reacting on its X account on Wednesday night, England’s highest football league celebrated Nigerians plying their trades in the league.
English Premier League lauded Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina, for starting for Nigeria.
“Nigeria book their place in the AFCON final! 🇳🇬.”
“Frank Onyeka, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina all featured in their semi-final win against South Africa,” Premier League wrote.
While Aina plays as a defender for Nottingham Forest, Onyeka plays as a defensive midfielder for Brentford, as Iwobi and Bassey are Fulham players.
