Adeleke compensates PDP caretaker committee members, excludes 2

Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has compensated the caretaker committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that worked for him before the governorship election.

He, however, excluded two persons, Adetoye Ogungboyega and Alhaji Rasaq Oyelami among the seven members.

The chairman of the caretaker committee, Dr Adekunle Akindele, was rewarded with Special Adviser on Public Health, and the Secretary of the committee, Femi Carena was announced as Special Adviser, Office of Surveyor General.

The former Attorney General of the state, Niyi Owolade, who was a member of the committee is now the chairman of Osun state university teaching hospital board; Mrs. Ayo Awolowo was announced as Commissioner for Women Affairs, and Dr. B.T. Salami was given Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties.

However, the remaining two members of the committee, Ogungboyega, and Oyelami, were said to have been schemed out by the committee before the end of their tenure for an attempt to intervene in the crisis between the party and former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Dotun Babayemi.

The duo of Ogungboyega and Oyelami had accused the committee led by Dr. Adekunle Akindele of chasing them away from the party secretariat on 22nd May 2022 before the commencement of the party primaries across the state contrary to the agreement reached the previous day to meet the aggrieved leaders.

When contacted on why he was now among the committee announced for the appointment, Ogungboyega said “Everybody can not be given an appointment at the same time.”

On whether his fight with the leadership of the committee caused him the appointment, he said the appointment is not his turn, hence the reason his name was missing.
