Abba Kyari was firm, patriotic till death – NYCN

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commiserated with the family of late Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, who died on Friday after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

The NYCN, in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Solomon Adodo prayed God to grant repose to the soul of the late Chief of Staff whom it described as a committed patriot who died in active service to his fatherland.

Mallam Kyari’s passage is the first high profile casualty since the case of the dreaded coronavirus was reported in Nigeria.

The NYCN President also condoled with Nigerians and President Muhammadu Buhari over the loss of Mallam Kyari, described him as “a very competent, dedicated and loyal aide, who was a strong pillar in the current administration.

While also extending the council’s heartfelt sympathy to the government and people of Borno state over the passage of a great son of the state, the umbrella youth body urged Nigerians to consider the death of Kyari as a big loss to the nation and called for restraint from making provocative statements.

“We appeal to Nigerians to pray for the repose of the soul of Abba Kyari and all who died as a result of COVID-19. By his death, Kyari has paid the supreme price as he died in active service,” the youth council said, adding that Kyari was very deep, firm, focused and unassuming in his national assignment, until his death.

“Mallam Kyari drew from his experiences as a lawyer who was called to the Bar in 1983, a banker and a journalist to become an administrator par excellence who did his best as the topmost aide of the President

“He was a man of deep convictions and courage who understood his role and performed it with uncommon dedication and effectiveness.

“He shared the values of President Buhari and his passion for the emancipation of the poor in Nigeria and the all-round development of the country for the benefit of all its people.
