The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) has applauded its members, Professor Umar Adam Katsayal and Hajiya Rakiya Tanko Ayuba-Haruna, both of SEC 44/2022, on their recent appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Professor Katsayal was appointed the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Transportation Daura, Katsina state while Hajiya Rakiya Haruna was appointed as Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
A press statement conveying their felicitation issued by the National Publicity Secretary of AANI, Brigadier General SK Usman (rtd), Wednesday, said its National President, a former Inspector General of Police, MD Abubakar, expressed the warm congratulations of the Association to the two members whom he described as ‘credible and outstanding’.
“We are pleased to learn that Professor Umar Adam Katsayal has been appointed as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Transportation in Daura, Katsina State. At the same time, we congratulate Hajiya Rakiya Tanko Ayuba Haruna on her appointment as Federal Commissioner of Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Allocation Commission (RMFAC).
“Furthermore, AANI would like to express our delight and pride in Hajiya Rakiya’s recent conferment of the prestigious traditional title of Garkuwan Mata of Zuru by His Royal Highness, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd), CON mni, Gomo II, the Emir Zuru. This title is one of the highest honours in Zuru Emirate, and it recognises Hajiya Rakiya as one of the Emirate’s outstanding daughters.
“It is interesting to note that until his new appointment, Umar Adam Katsayal mni, was a Professor of Pharmacognosy and Drug Development at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, while Honourable Hajiya Rakiya Tanko Ayuba-Haruna has served as the first female Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, and Commissioner for Information and Culture in Kebbi State and now the first Garkuwan Mata of the Zuru Emirate,” the statement said.
It further noted that the respective appointments were a testament to the immense confidence and trust the federal government has placed on them to carry out their responsibilities to the best of their abilities, for the betterment of the country.
