Again Ribadu, Mustapha distribute relief materials to 500 Adamawa flood victims

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu,  and the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman North East, Comrade Salihu Mustapha  have dole out another trench of relief materials to over 500 victims of recent flood disaster in Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa state.

This is coming barely 3 days after the duo  extended the same gestures to over 700 families badly affected by ravaging flood which led to lost of no fewer than 25 lives, destructions of properties and displacements of so many people from their abode.

Speaking at the weekend during the second disbursements exercise, the duo represented by Adamawa APC organising Secretary  Comrade Mustapha Atiku Ribadu said,  the second trench of disbursements to 5000 victims is in fulfilments of their earlier promised  to provide more supports to victims.

“The NSA is deeply concerned  that is why more intervations are being prepared to help families  regain some sense of normalcy. We will continue to distributes as more people are verified until all the affected victims are reached”

He further  noted that special arrangement is under way from the NSA  to support victims whose houses were either destroyed or made inhabitable.

He said the havoc wrecked on communities by the flood was severe and alarming with some victims loosing everything, hence the decision to expand the intervations to more families and to includes blankets, mats, children clothing among others.

According to him, the adhoc committee selected for the disbursements which includes party excos, community and religious leaders  have toured all the affected communities to assess the extend of damages incured by the victims and identified genuine victims  before coming out with the list of the beneficiaries across affected communities. 

Atiku further explained that to ensure that no one is left behind in the distribution process, special arrangement have been put in place to reach high risk areas with difficult terrain where victims cannot be able to come to distribution centres due to old age, health challenges among other issues. 

Most of the beneficiaries who spoke to Blueprint commended the duo for their empathy and supports and called on government and public spirited individuals to provides more supports and assistance to enable them pick the broken pieces of their lives and move on.
