SDP panel submits report, says Gabam, youth leader shunned committee

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) investigative committee set up by the National Working Committee (NWC) to probe allegations of financial impropriety leveled against the suspended National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam; National Auditor, Nnadi Clarkson; and National Youth Leader, Ogbonnaya Uchechukwu, said Gabam and Uchechukwu allegedly failed to appear before the committee.

The Chairman of the Committee, Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Sadick Liman (rtd) revealed this while submitting the report to the party’s Acting National chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Gombe, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The SDP NWC recently suspended its Gabam, Clarkson and Uchechukwu over allegations of financial malfeasance.

Submitting its report, the committee chairman said, “It will be recalled that the National Working Committee of the party inaugurated this noble Disciplinary Committee comprising distinguished party members on Friday, 4 July, 2025. The Committee was tasked to investigate in depth, the prima facie case of criminal conspiracy fraud and theft against three members of Die Party

“It is noteworthy that it’s the only suspended National Auditor that honoured the invitation amongst the three allegedly accused persons while among the NWC members, only the National Organising Secretary vehemently refused to honour the Committee’s invitation.

“It is safe to state that the Committee obtained sufficient evidence from the statements of all those that appeared before it. Additionally, the documentary evidence provided by the NWC was valuable to the Committee,” he said.

The SDP, according to the committee, would take a “bold step towards cleansing itself to provide purposeful leadership to Nigerians by imbibing the core attribute of quality leadership, such as integrity, vision, empathy accountability transparency, courage, humility, patriotism, incorruptibility high level of morality and credibility amongst others.”
