800 Kebbi pilgrims return home

A total of 838 pilgrims from Kebbi state who performed this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia, are back home.

The second batch of 428 pilgrims touched down at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, aboard Flynas Airline A330 – 900 Airbus, early morning, Monday.

The maiden shuttle airlift from the King ABDULAZIZ International Airport, Jeddah, brought back 410 pilgrims from Arewa and Jega local government areas last Saturday.

The latest arrivals from Argungu and Dandi local government areas, were received by the chairman of the Reception Committee, Kebbi state Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena, and other members of the committee.

“We are grateful to God for making the journey safe and successful. The airlift exercise will continue without break until all the more than 3,000 pilgrims from Kebbi state are evacuated from Saudi Arabia to Birnin Kebbi. We thank our amenable and charismatic leader, Governor Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, for his unflinching devotion to the success of the hajj operation by providing moral and material support,” Bena said.

The returning pilgrims, looking healthy and well- fed, were airlifted back home from Saudi Arabia together with their luggage and subsequently transported from the airport to the Nasir Idris Hajj Camp, Birnin Kebbi, where each pilgrim would take delivery of his/her luggage after necessary clearance.
