In a deliberate effort to showcase the beauty of Africa, Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST) has said that 60 models from Nigeria and across Africa will compete in the 2025 edition of African fashion event holding in Asaba, Delta state.
The event scheduled to hold from May 23-24, is aimed at celebrating the continent’s vibrant fashion industry and diverse talents and to discover raw talents.
The president of MAFEST, Mr Charles Ozoemena, stated this in Asaba, the Delta state capital during the first phase of auditions which featured model selections from across the 25 local government areas of the state.
Mr. Ozoemena noted that MAFEST’s mission was to empower and elevate the modeling and fashion industry in the state and country in general.
He said: “40 of the 60 models participating on the runway will be from Nigeria, while 20 will come from other countries in Africa. The festival initially scheduled for April 24–26, has been shifted to May 23–24, 2025.
“MAFEST is designed as a platform for both established and emerging designers to showcase their talents, featuring avant-garde designs and innovative couture. We need to elevate the modeling world into a money-making venture for our young boys and girls. Their counterparts abroad are earning millions of dollars.”
