6-month salary arrears: Zamfara workers block finance ministry’s entrance

A group of workers Thursday blocked the entrance to the Zamfara state Ministry of Finance in a peaceful protest over what they called their six-month salary suspension by the state government.

Speaking to newsmen, a worker, Aminu Ibrahim, said  about 776 of them had their salaries suspended in the past six months.

He said they had tried their best to get the state government to listen to their grievances but to no avail.

He expressed the dismay of the workers at the way the state government  put them in a difficult situation without providing any solution.

“Governor Dauda Lawal in the past few months swore to us by God that our problem would be solved, but no action has been taken, and we still do not know our fate,” he said.
