The convener of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Borno state, Hon. Sheriff Banki, has said there was going to be a tough opposition in Borno state willing to mobilise voters to win all elective positions from the local, state and national level come 2027 general elections.
He argued that the time was ripe to change the narrative in the state, where one party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) dominated the affairs of the state.
Banki who doubles as the media coordinator of the newly formed coalition, made the disclosure on Thursday during maiden engagement/meeting and unveiling of ADC at Forshams Hall in Maiduguri, Borno state.
While addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters comprising former members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party (LP), among others, who joined the new movement, Banki called on the people of Borno state, including members of the ruling APC to join ADC in order to salvage the state and Nigerians from manipulations, hunger, poverty, insecurity and the current economic hardships.
“We are here today to unveil our great party, ADC. This coalition is a movement which is tough and aims to rescue people from bad governance, and Borno is not an exception. We want to elect people or leaders who will bring inclusivity, zero-tolerance to corruption into the system.
“Under the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the average Nigerians are in critical condition due to bad policies, and ADC is determined to do the needful come 2027”, Banki stated.
In his remarks, the pioneer Chairman of the ADC coalition, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bolori, expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of supporters and pledged to operate an open door policy to ensure victory in the forthcoming general elections in the state and the country as whole.
“I am very much impressed with the large turnout of people who have come from far and near to grace this very important maiden meeting and unveiling of our party in Borno state.
“Let me reiterate by assuring our teaming supporters that we shall operate an open door policy for inclusivity and grassroots mobilisation ahead of 2027 polls”. Bolori stated.
