Former senator representing Ekiti South senatorial district (2015 to 2023), Abiodun Christine Olujimi, has said no politician is capable of unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Speaking during a Channels TV interview monitored by Blueprint in Abuja, Olujimi said Tinubu is a dyed-in-the-wool politician who knows his onions and knows all politicians as he has been in the system for very long, hence it will be difficult to beat him in the 2027 presidential election.
The former lawmaker who is also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), advised her party to come together and redefine what they want.
She also hastened to add that even that won’t unseat Tinubu in 2027 as it is too close, while the rebranding of the PDP will take a long time.
She said neither a candidate from the North nor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state or even the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Mr Peter Obi, can unseat Tinubu as he is a politician who knows the terrain very well.
Olujimi said: “I think the PDP leaders must come together to redefine what they want. And that, the redefinition, cannot work for the 2027 elections, because it’s quite close. You need to redefine. Like you’re rebranding. It’s a 360 degree thing. And it’s not easy to achieve, not with the politician at the helm of affairs in the center.
“This is the first time we’re having a dyed-in-the-wool politician as president. He knows his onions. He knows all of us. He’s been in the system for very long. So it’s going to be difficult to beat him. It’s tough. Not even from any candidate from the North.
“This is a man who has worked with everyone, who has been useful to everyone, who has had opportunities to assist governments. So beating him, uphill task. Not even the PDP can do that, not in that shape. It is sad.
“Yes, two years is far off but you see there won’t be too many surprises. Yes, people will have votes, but they’ll never come close even with Seyi Makinde from Oyo State. He’s a good man, a hard worker. He has done so much for Oyo State. He’s a good man. But Oyo state alone cannot come into this fray and make a difference.
“The rhetorics of the last elections will not work again for Peter Obi, except he comes with another gimmick. You see, Tinubu is a politician, a man who knows the terrain well. My brother, it’s tough.”
