Ahead of the governorship election in Ekiti state next year, a coalition of 130 pan-Yoruba groups, under the aegis of Alliance for Yoruba Democratic Movements (AYDM), has endorsed Governor Abiodun Oyebanji for a second term in office.
According to the Coalition, the governor is a beacon of hope.
The group also promised to mobilise Nigerians to vote en masse for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term bid in 2027.
They noted that Oyebanji achievements were his unique selling point for a second term in office, and that it was worthy of emulation for other governors.
AYDM gave the endorsement after its two-day stakeholders’ meeting held in Ikeja, Lagos, which started Thursday till Friday.
According to them, Oyebanji has already made the Yoruba proud, and also commended him for championing regional integration
In his remarks, the Guest Speaker, Comrade Adewale Adeoye, described the Ekiti governor as a “beacon of hope” for the entire country, and that the groups were pleased with the governor’s achievements.
Adeoye noted that Governor Oyebanji epitomised Omoluabi (good behaviour) and had built milestones in education, road construction, public health, agriculture and ensured transparency in Governance.
He said he was impressed that people are organising themselves into informal political blocs to chat about a common future.
He called on the people to assert themselves, saying he was impressed by the developments in Ekiti state, adding that the state “represents a striking example for other states to follow.”
