Newly appointed Amavubi of Rwanda head coach, Adel Amrouche, has disclosed that he looked towards winning his first match against Super Eagles and doing something special with the team.
Amrouche’s appointment was confirmed by the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) on Sunday.
The Algerian took up the role after FERWAFA opted not to extend the contract of German tactician Thorsten Spittler.
The 56-year-old’s first game in charge of the Amavubi will be the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria later this month.
The Amavubi currently top Group C with seven points from four games.
He believed the East Africans can secure a berth at the 2026 World Cup.
“We should believe we can do something special,” he declared after he began work as new coach of the Amavubi.
“I will do all my best to achieve, but I alone do not have the magic wand, together we will make Rwanda to be the best in Africa.”
