The APC electoral committee chairman, Dr. Habib Ibrahim, who announced the result, had urged other aspirants to accept the outcome and support the winner in good faith.
According to the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the FCT Area Councils election will hold on February 26, 2026.
Meanwhile, after receiving the Certificate of Return at the APC headquarters on Wednesday, Maikalangu assured APC members that the party will emerge victorious in the election next year.
He said that, despite not being time for campaign, his reelection will tantamount to consolidating on the dividends of democracy he has been delivering to AMAC residents since his election in 2022.
He urged party faithful to unite for a better AMAC, saying there is no need for division in the party.
He said: “The Certificate of Return has assured me that I am the APC candidate for AMAC Chairmanship election come 2026. At the APC, we are one family. I urge my supporters to continue supporting the APC. I urge others who contested against me to join hands with me to move AMAC forward.
“As you can see, everyone here is happy. I guess it’s time for us to go into action. Almost all the other contestants are my friends, my brothers. I’ve seen them in person and we are one family and I’ve asked them to join me. Whatever is there, we are all together. So I guess we are going to work together.
“The Honourable Minister of FCT has repeatedly said that it is operation show your scorecard. It’s operation show your voter’s card. Not only scorecard, show your voter’s card. You cannot tell me that you are with me when you don’t have voter’s card.
“So I’m sending this message to all my lovers that they should go and get their voter’s card so that in this coming election, we shall deliver APC 100% in the FCT. I am calling on all other contestants, all other aspirants, that we should join our hands and get it correctly this time around. APC, this time around, we are going to make it, inshallah.
“I appeal to all the residents of the FCT that they should give me this support, so that where we have stopped, we will continue giving people dividends of democracy. Whatever I’ve done for my people, if they like it, they should vote for me. It’s what you did for your people that will make them to vote for you and I’ve done it for them.”
