The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has mandated public and public tertiary institutions to expedite action in the admission of students who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the weekly bulletin by the board on Monday, all public universities in the country must complete 2025 admissions by 31 October, 2025, while all private universities must finalise admissions by 30 November, 2025.
Furthermore, all other tertiary institutions (including polytechnics, colleges of education, among others), both public and private, must conclude admissions by 31 December 2025.
The board mandated all public universities to complete all preliminaries, including post-UTME screening, and submit their recommended lists via Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) before the end of September, 2025, to allow for full scrutiny and timely processing, while private universities are expected to submit theirs by October 31.
“The 2025 policy meeting, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Education, resolved that all public universities must complete 2025 admissions by 31 October 2025, while all private universities must finalise admissions by 30 November 2025. Furthermore all other tertiary institutions, both public and private, must conclude admissions by 31 December 2025.
“Accordingly, all tertiary institutions are to keep within the time lines. Any university not ready for immediate commencement of the 2025/26 academic session, should within this approved timeline conclude and archive the admission list pending the delayed matriculation.
“Consequently, all public universities are expected to complete all preliminaries, including post-UTME screening, and submit their recommended lists via CAPS not later than 30 September 2025 to allow for full scrutiny and timely processing. Private universities are expected to submit theirs by 31st October 2025,” the board stated.
