The Nigeria Armwrestling Federation (NAWF) has received official approval from the National Sports Commission (NSC) to demonstrate Armwrestling at the 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged “Gateway Games Ogun 2024”, scheduled to take place from May 16 to 30 in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

The news was confirmed by Mrs. Thecla Opara, Director of the National Sports Festival and Para Sports (NSFPS) and Secretary of the Main Organizing Committee (MOC), who announced that arm wrestling has been graciously granted a demonstration slot during the highly anticipated event.

This demonstration marks the first time arm wrestling will be featured on a national multi-sport stage, signaling a new chapter for the sport’s development and visibility in Nigeria. It will also offer thousands of spectators and athletes a firsthand experience of the strength, skill, and excitement that arm wrestling brings.

With the Gateway Games now set to host this groundbreaking demonstration, all eyes will be on Abeokuta this May as Nigeria Armwrestling prepares to grip the nation’s attention like never before.

Also, the NSC has approved flag football as a demonstration sport at the upcoming Games.

The announcement was made official through a statement signed by Mrs. Thecla Opara, Director (NSFPS) and Secretary of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) of the festival.
