2023 general elections: Only INEC can announce authentic results – Yakubu

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has said only results released by the Independent Electoral Commission, (INEC) is the authentic result and appealed to Nigerians not to accept results from any other source.

INEC chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu who stated this at a press briefing at the National Collation Centre in Abuja noted that it would begin announcing results of the presidential election held on Saturday, February 25 by 6pm on Sunday.

Yakubu said it is expected that results from some states of the federation would have reached the National Collation Center in Abuja by then.

He said collation of result of the elections would begin from wards to local government areas and from states to the National Collation Center in Abuja where he will serve as returning officer.

Yakubu said, “Only results released by the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC is the authentic result and appealed to Nigerians not to accept results from any other source.”

He formerly declared open the National Collation Center at the International Conference Center, Abuja stating that collation and announcement of results will take place only in the hall of the Center.
