2023: Emir of Fika tours rural communities, preaches peace


The Emir of Fika and Chairman Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers, Dr Muhammadu Ibn Abali Muhammadu Idrissa, has appealed to voters to shun political violence and hate speech during the forthcoming elections.


The traditional ruler made the plea during tour to communities under his domain in Fika local government area of the state.


He said no society will develop in chaos, adding, “We appeal to you to be more matured and calm during the elections. Never allow yourselves be used by someone to achieve selfish interests. We cannot move forward with violence. Shun all forms of chaos, embrace peace, come out and vote peacefully.”


The emir was accompanied by top traditional title holders, Fika Emirate Council members among other stakeholders. Places visited include Gashuwa community, Dogon Kuka, Garin Ari, Turmi, Zangaya, Maluri among other places.


During tour to Maluri district, Maluri Youth Development Association (MYDA) chairman, Isa Mailafiya, urged the emir to intervene in reducing the problems of youth unemployment, herders’ invasion of farmlands from Ngelshengele neighboring community and ensure the construction of bridges and erosion control.
