The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibril, has appealed to the party stalwarts from the South East geopolitical zone to jettison defection plans and support the Anambra state chapter in winning the 2021 gubernatorial poll.

Jibril, who made the appeal at grand reception organised by the PDP Anambra Central Senatorial District party executive in honour of the State Chairman of the party, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, said in unity, PDP would dislodge the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra state and move to recapture the federal government from the All Progressive Congress (APC).

According to him, all hands must be on desk to achieve the desired  result because the outcome of the election would also determine the future of the state and the faith of Ndi-Igbo in the Nigeria political structure.
“PDP is not against the Igbo nation. PDP loves the Igbo people. PDP loves every tribe. Please, don’t leave PDP to APC. Don’t decamp to any political party. All we want is unity. We must win the Anambra 2021 governorship election. In 2023, PDP shall take over the federal government again to do everything possible to keep Nigeria as one,” he added.

Also speaking, the National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, represented by the National Youth Leader, Sunday Udeh-okoye, while endorsing Nwobu state-led executive of the party, recalled that when the party was in power, things were not expensive as compared to the happenings in the present political dispensation.
He tasked Anambra people on unity ahead of 2021 and 2023 polls.

The Chairman of the grand reception planning committee, Hon. Chukwuka Onyema, member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, in an address, said the event was aimed at celebrating what he termed hardworking executive Chairman of the party having delivered them at both National and State Assembly polls in 2019.
In a welcome address, the state Chairman, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment by the state executive and other stakeholders of PDP from national to ward levels towards the unity and the progress of the party, assuring that PDP would emerge victorious on Anambra 2021 poll, if the tempo is sustained.
