2022: Lagos agog as organisers stage National food safety summit

Organisers of the National Food Safety Summit has said all is now set for 2022 edition of the event expected to hold in Lagos on Friday August 26.

The Chief Executive Officer, RCL Industrial Safety Centre, Mr Joe Oduah, said the objective of the Food Safety Summit was to educate participants on all stages of food processing.

“Do you know that millions of people get sick from food borne illness yearly and thousands die.

“Do you know that hazardous materials contaminating food supply can cost millions and damage company’s reputation.

“The food safety summit is therefore here to help in all stages of food processing from growers, manufacturers, transporters to the kitchen and from low to high risks food handlers and managers,” he said.

The first leg of the summit held in Abuja on Thursday July 28 at the Federal Ministry of Environment in Maitama.

Oduah said the Abuja event was a huge success, adding that the Lagos event promises to be much more exciting, entertaining and educative.

He stressed that at the end of the event, participants would learn and understand how to implement modern and the best food safety measures.

He added that food handlers would also be educated on basic principles of food hygiene, policies and guidelines.

The event is powered by RCL City Centre in collaboration with National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN), National Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC), Federal Ministry of Health, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the Lagos State Safety Commission.
