A driver said to be overtaking another vehicle has reportedly crashed into a mini passenger bus in Uhuwonde local government of Edo state, killing two persons on the spot.
Five other individuals were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident which reportedly occurred at the weekend at Egba junction on the Benin-Auch Road.
Blueprint gathered that motorists plying the dual-carriage road have been forced to drive one-way, following repair works on the failed portion of the bypass axis of the other end of the road.
A witness who craved anonymity said: “The crash occurred when a jeep heading towards Auchi, dangerously overtook a vehicle and rammed into an oncoming mini bus.”
The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety (FRSC) in Edo state, Cyril Matthew, confirmed the incident.
Matthew attributed the auto crash to wrongful overtaking, adding that the injured persons were receiving treatment at the hospital.
